Lily Allen has abandoned her Twitter account after abuse over her baby son's death

She’s temporarily quit over “new levels” of abuse.

LILY ALLEN HAS temporarily handed over control of her Twitter account after she was subjected to “the most disgusting, sexist, misogynistic, racist shit”.

The row stemmed from tweets Allen sent in which she said she replaced the words ‘immigrant’ or ‘Muslim’ with ‘pensioner’ in order to make a point about prejudice.

.@johndubskierx I don't hate all pensioners just the extremists.Can't you see this country is being taken over by hate extremist pensioners.

The tweets, interpreted by some as a bona fide attack on UK pensioners, led to a torrent of abuse culminating in some truly awful exchanges about the death of Allen’s baby son in 2010.

Allen handed over control of her Twitter account to ‘Dennis’ yesterday evening, citing “new levels” of trolling and abuse.
