LISTEN: New music from Prince, from a mysterious source
A PREVIEW OF some new Prince music has appeared on YouTube, after a mysterious Twitter account popped up which seemed to have access to all kinds of Purple One goodies.
A link to this snippet of the song Screwdriver, a previously unreleased tune has now been posted. It’s believed to be a studio recording played during a behind-the-scenes jamming session for the Fox 9 crew when they interviewed his new backing band:
YouTube/3rdEyeGirl
Consequence of Sound suggests that the Twitter account belonging to @3rdEyeGirl is sanctioned by Prince, considering that next-to-none of his music is allowed to remain on YouTube and he is famously protective of his copyright. Remember when he sued a woman because she posted a video online of her baby dancing to Let’s Go Crazy?
The fact that this live slowed-down version of I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man is still on YouTube might lend some credence to this idea.
There are also several YouTube videos pondering who 3rd Eye Girl really is, featuring members of his band:
Prince, you tricker. Are you behind this?
