Lonely Planet tells tourists hurling is like 'hockey on steroids'

A LONELY PLANET author writing a travel guide to Dublin has described hurling for tourists as “hockey on steroids”.

This article on the travel guide’s website tackles an important topic: what to do in Dublin when you’ve got a crippling hangover.

It recommends a game at Croke Park as part of the cure after a night sharing “the locals’ ebullient hospitality” and being defeated by our “ability to hold a drink”.

And the writer describes the stadium as the spiritual home of Gaelic football and hurling

… whose frantic action can feel like hockey on steroids.
