Louis CK has caused outrage with his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live

The routine has been widely criticised on social media.

He started off the show with an opening monologue that covered a few controversial issues – including an attempted comedic take on the issue of child abuse. To get the quotes in context, you can watch the full clip here:

The particular quote that has been the talk of social media since was this line:

Child molesters are very tenacious people.

And the fact that he compared the abuse to his love of US candy Mounds Bars:

They do taste delicious, but they don’t taste as good as a young boy does, and shouldn’t, to a child molester.

Near the end of the show’s opening he acknowledged the audience’s reaction to the line:

How do you think I feel? It’s my last show, probably.

The monologue has sparked some outrage over on Twitter
