Louis Theroux's 'sensual eating' hasn't changed his stance on polyamory

‘I’m a bit of a square.’

WHILE SPEAKING TO The Times earlier this month, Louis Theroux branded himself ‘a bit of a square’.

Reflecting on the various contentious topics which have been the subject of his numerous documentaries, the Londoner maintained that he finds casual intimacy one of the more perplexing.

Someone said to me, ‘After doing films about paedophilia and Nazis, what do you still find shocking?’ And I said, ‘Casual sex, like one-night stands.’

“I don’t think it’s any secret, I’m a bit of a square. So that was slightly tongue-in-cheek, but I did sort of mean it,” Louis added.

Considering this, fans of the documentary-maker will naturally have been keen to see how he navigates one particular event featured in his latest series, Altered Series: Love Without Limits.

And that would be a sensual eating event in which participants undress, blindfold one another, feed each other and touch various parts of each other’s bodies documented in the second episode of the series entitled Maximum Love.

Like previous endeavours, Louis got involved, so to speak.

In essence, the episode was an exploration of polyamory in Portland, and while Louis dubbed the experience ‘rather embarrassing’, he told The One Show hosts this week that he naturally has to dismiss any bias he has prior to investigating the topic.

”I really do try to go into these things and keep and open mind,” he said.

And did his research and investigation, and as he put it ‘topless women feeding me strawberries and cream and smearing it on my face’ change his mind on the topic of multiple partners?

Well, no.

As flawed as polyamory clearly is, there is an in-built problem with it, which is jealousy.

‘It’s not as though monogamy is perfect… I think I will be sticking with monogamy,” Louis said.

Alright, fair enough.
