Love Actually fans just discovered a mind-blowing age gap between two characters
DO US A solid, and cast your mind back to the release of Love Actually in 2003, would you?
Now, take a moment to consider the cast of the much-loved Christmas-themed romcom.
We had Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson. We also had Alan Rickman and Colin Firth.
And then there was Laura Linney, Martine McCutheon and Hugh Grant, of course.
Oh, and sure let’s not forget Keira Knightley and Thomas Brodie- Sangster!
Take a second to focus on these two.
One played a married woman, utterly oblivious to the fact she was sending her husband’s best friend into a near-constant frenzy, and the other played a young schoolboy with a crush on a classmate.
So far, so Richard Curtis.
So, why is Twitter currently in meltdown over it?
Well, it turns out that that young schoolboy is, IRL, a mere five years younger than that married woman.
That’s right, Thomas was 13 when he played the role of Sam in Love Actually and Keira was just 18.
Twitter user @reyespidey pointed it out over the weekend, and the tweet garnered thousands of retweets
Five years, people. Five years.
And if you’ll excuse us, we need to go lie down, and we’re clearly not the only ones.
