5 shows that will fill the Love Island-shaped hole in your life
1. Love Island Australia (3e, 9pm)
Ten Ten
Oh, you thought the UK one was dramatic? The reality show’s Aussie counterpart makes the Georgia-Jack kiss look tame. Seriously, none of them give a shite about double-crossing each other and they’re all very much up for playing the game.
It’s currently airing on 3e, but beware of spoilers as the show has already aired in full in Oz. (You have about a week to catch up on as well!)
2. The Bachelorette Australia (series three, watch online)
Ten Ten
Look familiar? That’s because this series focuses on Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk finding love.
The Bachelorette revolves around a single bachelorette and a pool of romantic interests which could include a potential husband for the bachelorette. The show starts with the bachelorette standing in front of a mansion and greeting each male contestant individually when they walk out of the limo (the dream, TBH).
After each rose ceremony, the pool of contenders gets smaller, which eventually leaves the bachelorette to decide between two contestants in the final rose ceremony. For the final selection, one of two male suitors usually proposes to the bachelorette.
Monk’s a bit more gas and “real” (as one can be on a reality show) than your typical contestant looking for love, which makes this series a much more enjoyable watch.

3. The Bachelor Australia (series six, airing online in August)
Again, this year’s Bachelor is, eh, slightly unconventional. Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins is a former professional rugby player, and, eh, aggressively Australian.

This is 100% a must-watch, just to see how he actually interacts with a woman.
4. Celebrity Big Brother (3e, TBA)
Channel 5 Channel 5
This year’s ‘eye of the storm’-themed season could potentially be the last due to plummeting ratings.
With that, it could also be the most explosive, with rumours abound that Meghan Markle’s half sister Samantha is heading in to the house. There’s been no air date announced for this yet – DailyEdge.ie will keep you updated!
5. True Love Or True Lies (MTV, August 6th at 9pm)
Reckon you can separate the Jack and Danis from the Alex and Alexandras? This is the show for you! MTV’s new dating show, hosted by Maya Jama, will follow a group of couples as they settle into their beautiful new Tuscan villa, but some couples are the real deal, while others are fake.
The couples have to question each other on everything from where they met to how long they’ve been together to what their pet’s middle name is. Each night, the couples will have to vote out the couple they think aren’t telling the whole truth in a love ceremony, (sounds familiar) with the evicted couple then revealing their real status.
The winning couple at the end will win themselves at least £50,000, with an additional £10,000 being added to the money pot every time the villa votes out a pair of liars.
Remember Playing It Straight? It’s like that, but less problematic (we hope).
