(Spoilers ahead for the episode which aired June 11)

WHEN THREE NEW arrivals landed at the Love Island villa, a nation held its breath. A doctor’s heart filled with hope, his feet clad with ankle socks. And yet, it was still not enough.

Newbies Simon, Charlie and Megan rocked up to the villa looking for a love and a blue tick on Instagram. They were all given three dates each, which meant Alex had a shot at actually, finally getting his bit.

Having shown an initial interest in Alex, Megan picked Niall and Eyal for her first two dates. While Niall said he’s open to making new connections (rat), Eyal made sure to lay it on thick, calling her “beautiful”.

With Megan reduced to “a giggling school girl”, the pair shared a kiss.

With one date left, Megan put Alex out of his misery and asked him to join her picnic. Alex – suitably sweating – gave himself a much-needed pep talk in the bedroom beforehand.

Come on Alex … Don’t c*ck this up.”

So much wisdom for someone so young. Anyway, the date seemed to go fine … Until Megan admitted that she felt more of a connection with Eyal.

Ok, rude of her to follow her own feelings as opposed to going with what the public want her to do! I mean, how selfish can you be?

Some other things that happened that nobody cares about:

• Wes and Laura went to the hideaway wearing completely opposing pyjama styles.
• Hayley said she couldn’t go further with Eyal because he asked her what her favourite animal was.
• Dani said she only eats bananas for protein, not as a way to shift boys, which is fair, but I also think she meant potassium?
• Samira fancies Charlie.
