Love/Hate is now a hit in Monte Carlo

It’s a far cry from dirty Dublin at least.

LOVE/HATE MIGHT BE the biggest thing to hit Irish TV in years but it looks like it’s making a splash abroad too.

The show was up for two gongs at the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo this week for Best International Drama TV Series and Best European Drama TV Series.

To celebrate show producers Suzanne McAuley and Steve Matthews and director David Caffrey headed over for the festival.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like Nidge, Darren and the rest of the cast could make it.

Which is a shame because we’d love to have seen those pictures.

Ultimately the show didn’t win in either category losing out to Breaking Bad and Borgen respectively.

It does sound like they had a great time however including landing a snap with Prince Albert of Monaco and Irish actor Stuart Townsend.

The event itself also sounds very glamourous with cocktails in the palace, Chic as the evening’s entertainment and the cast of Dallas also attending.

Why, it’s like a timewarp to the late 70s.

Suzanna McAuley spoke about the trip and said they "thrilled to have been nominated" and that there was "an amazing atmosphere" in Monaco.

Apparently there was plenty of chatter about the show amongst the audiences at the festival and as McAuley points out:

It’s a wonderful moment for Love/Hate to be acknowledged and recognised on the world stage. We celebrated in style last night – they really know how to throw a party here!

We hope they do a decent breakfast roll in Monaco to work on those post-awards hangovers lads.

Now hurry up and give us a look at season four will you? We can't wait much longer.
