Luxury hotel for dogs gets Parisian tails wagging

‘Actuel Dogs’ pampers dogs for a full day, from between €26 and €35.

A NEW LUXURY hotel in Paris is promising a five-star full-day pampering treatment for the comparatively knock-down price of just €35.

There’s just one problem: you need to be a dog to get the treatment.

Actuel Dogs‘, which bills itself as France’s first luxury hotel built exclusively for guests of the canine variety, offers guests a chance to take a dip in a heated pool or have a relaxing massage.

They can, of course, alternatively just sit on particularly plumped cushions – or, for those feeling more active, special “doggy jogging” classes are arranged.

The facility is marketed as a slightly more plush and humane alternative to leaving a dog in kennels while its owner is away – and its owners say dog-lovers are happy to fork out slightly more to be guaranteed their dogs will have a comfortable holiday while they’re out of town themselves.

The hotel has also proven popular with those living more centrally, whose small apartments and even smaller patios deny them the chance to exercise their dogs as much as they’d like.

The owners stress, though, that their business isn’t a beauty parlour – believing that luxury beauty treatments for the sake of them are a waste of money that often leave the subject more stressed out than relaxed.

Such routines are “human madness”, they told Reuters. “Our priority is to meet the dog’s needs.”

Potential visitors are vetted (not literally) first, however, in order to identify dogs more prone to misbehaviour, which are declined access to the five-star getaway.

Dog lovers looking to book in their peculiarly pampered pups can get hold of the hotel at actueldogs.com.
