Man convicted of murder in LA after police spot his tattoo depicting killing
A 25-YEAR-OLD MAN has been convicted in LA of first-degree murder after US police discovered a large tattoo on his chest linking him to the killing.
John Juarez, 23, was shot dead outside an off-licence in 2004.
Four years later, Anthony Garcia, 25, was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended licence.
Police photographed his tattoos before he left custody and when one detective saw Garcia’s pictures, he recognised the scene depicted in his tattoo: Garcia had an image of the Juarez murder scene tattooed across his chest.
The image included details such as street lighting, street signs and the direction the shots were fired in.
The LA County Sheriff’s office said that Garcia was arrested in October 2008 in connection with the murder and confessed to police. He was convicted of first degree murder on 20 April and is due to be sentenced next month.
