Man offers burglar coffee because he felt sorry for him
COFFEE. IT BRINGS people together.
But would you happily share a cup with someone you caught breaking into your house, like this guy did?
A couple were awoken in the early hours of this morning by the sounds of someone walking around their apartment in northern Sweden.
Homeowner Tomas Holmberg managed to overpower the thief, who didn’t resist, and called the police.
Instead of treating the would-be burglar with cold contempt like anybody else would, Tomas sat him down in the kitchen and offered him a cup of coffee.
According to Swedish website The Local, Tomas felt sorry for the man:
Tomas said the burglar then apologised to him for trying to rob his home (sound of him) and sat quietly drinking his coffee until the police arrived to arrest him.
We can’t imagine this kind of rational behaviour catching on over here, somehow.
