Man seen on Street View urinating in garden sues Google
A MAN SNAPPED by Google’s street view cameras as he urinated in his front garden has taken the company to court saying it violated his privacy and image rights.
A lawyer for the French man told Reuters that he believes the photo has made him a laughing stock in his village in the Maine-et-Loire region.
The man, who is about 50 years old, lives in the village of Vern d’Anjou which has a population of about 3,000 people. He says locals recognised him despite his face being blurred out.
He is demanding the removal of the photo, as well as some €10,000 in damages.
Although he chose to relieve himself outside, the man thought he was well hidden by his closed garden gate. According to a French website, the man said he had a right to do what he wants on his own property.
His lawyer said that everyone has the right to some secrecy.
“If he’d been caught kissing a woman other than his wife, he would have had the same issue,” he said.
Well, he may have had much bigger issues then.
