This man gives free haircuts to shelter dogs so they'll get adopted

:’)

THIS IS MARK Imhof, or as he’d prefer to be known, Mark the Dog Guy.

Mark goes around animal shelters in New York offering free haircuts to the dogs in the hopes that a sprucing up might help them get adopted.

According to the Metro, he got into dog grooming after leaving his job as a consultant a few years ago – he went to grooming school to learn the tricks of the trade, then offered his services to the Animal Care and Control Centres of New York.

Since then, he’s transformed loads of dogs, and seen plenty of them go on to be adopted. He says he’s now aware of how painful matted fur can be for a stray dog:

The first dog I ever worked on was Ernie [pictured below]. My hands turned black from the dirt that was caked on him as I brushed him out. I had to re-apply the shampoo three times to get the dirt off him, but he came out adorable.

All dogs need homes, whether they are from a pet store, a breeder, or a shelter. These animals have soooo much love to give and just want to give and receive love.

You can see more of Mark’s transformations on his Facebook page. Keep up the great work!
