Mars Rover draws huge willy on planet surface

Pffft.

WHILE TRAVERSING THE surface of the Red Planet, Nasa’s Mars Exploration Rover has drawn a penis.

The large and unmistakeable shape, neatly outlined in tyre tracks, was created by one of the two Mars Exploration Rover (MER) vehicles.

It was then spotted by users of Reddit and posted under the title:

Mars Rover = $800m, Team to Operate = $1b. Drawing a penis on the surface of another planet = Priceless.

Here it is:

However, it’s not clear whether the latest addition to humanity’s interplanetary legacy was drawn intentionally.

The Rovers are partially controlled by Earth-based operators and partially by “autonomous” driving systems, according to Nasa’s website.

It’s also unclear whether the space willy was drawn by MER Spirit, which controllers lost contact with in 2009, or MER Opportunity.

According to the latest news update from the space agency, MER Opportunity is “currently examining veined rocks”.
