THERE’S LOVING YOUR pets, and then there’s loving your pets, and this couple certainly does the latter.
Chris and Marissa Hughes run the Mr Mo Project, a rescue centre that puts sick and elderly dogs in foster homes.
The Hughes have eight dogs of their own, but here’s the thing – all the dogs loved to sleep with them in their ordinary double bed. Chris told Metro:
When we go to bed, all of the dogs try to beat us there and take up all the space on the bed. We didn’t want to allow one dog and not the other so we would manage and often times wake up needing a hip replacement.
The pair weren’t really getting a good night’s sleep this way, so they enlisted a local craftsman’s help in making a huge ‘megabed’ which would comfortably fit them and their pooches.
According to Metro, the bed is 14ft long and 7ft wide (twice as big as the average king sized bed) and has a set of stairs to accommodate the dogs with shorter legs.
Chris says that each dog now has their own spot on the bed, and the whole family is sleeping “very well”.
They love it, they love the space. While they always want to be as close to us and each other as they can, they respect our space now.
Dog people, eh?
