Meghan Markle was once a swag hag but it only makes us relate to her more
EVERYONE LOVES A freebie or two. Us mere mortals usually have to contend with grabbing what we can – be it a slice of pizza at the Student’s Union or a Vit Hit dished out on the street.
In all honesty, if it’s free, we’ll snap up whatever is going.
One of the enviable perks of being a celebrity is that they get given some stellar free goodies. Companies are willingly do this in the hope that celebs will do some product placement on social media or wear items when snapped by the paps.
The quality of the stuff that’s on offer for celebs is reallllly good. Specially if you’re an A-list celeb.
The 2016 Oscars gift bag contained goodies worth up to $200,000!
Along with a $900 toilet paper dispenser and a year of unlimited Audi car rentals, the goodie bag included a 10-day, first-class trip to Israel which was controversial to say the least. But if you’re a B-list celeb, sometimes you gotta work a little to be given the freebies.
By work, we literally mean just turning up at a promotional event and get pictured there, preferably with the product.
Whilst we adore Meghan Markle, the now Duchess of Sussex, there was a time when she was partial to the ‘I’ll-scratch-your-back-if-you-scratch-mine’ politics of promotions.

Meghan wasn’t a big enough star to be on the A-list Oscar invite list, so she had to ‘work’ a little bit for her freebies.
In her instagram, which she deleted when she started getting serious with Harry, she gave a shout out to Nike for her new sports gear, saying it was ‘quite the welcome home’.

At the 2012 HBO Luxury Lounge for the 69th annual Golden Globes, she was seen posing with a L’Oreal mascara and a homeopathic remedy for the flu.

Err..I mean, flu medication is probably more useful to have than a $900 toilet dispenser.
And here’s young Meg posing with a handbag.

Look in her defense, this was when Meghan was just starting out and she needed all the publicity she could get.
But there’s not really any excuse for these pics of her eating a sad-looking salad in a restaurant…

Casual salad eating vibes, but also come-hither-and-break-bread-with-me vibes.

We hope she at least eventually got to eat the salad.
