THE MELBOURNE CUP took place this weekend, and all eyes were on Irish-trained horse Heartbreak City.
Heartbreak caused heartbreak when they finished second, with Almandin taking first place to snag the €2.5 million prize in Australia’s biggest race.
But second place ain’t so bad. Tony Martin, a Meath-based trainer, helped lead the French horse to success.
But it was Aidan Shiels, Niall Reilly, and Charlie Gavigan that won the hearts of viewers with their ECSTATIC post-race interview.
When the Channel 7 reporter Neil Kearney reminded Aidan his horse had only come second, he shot back with:
I DON’T CARE. I DON’T CARE. We woulda been happy with last!
Hero.
