GARY AND PAUL O’Donovan lit up the Rio Olympics last summer on their way to a silver medal, and yesterday their efforts were rewarded with a trip to the Áras.
It wasn’t just them though – the whole Skibbereen Rowing Club were honoured at a ceremony with President Michael D Higgins and Sabina.
The best photo of the day happened when the brothers stood in beside Michael D and his dogs Bród and Síoda
So much joy in one photo.
Look at how much they love Michael D
Stop.
RTÉ were there to capture the President’s address to the club
“Gary O’Donovan got a familiar welcome from President Higgins: ”tis yourself’ he said while he shook the Olympic medallist’s hand”
Michael D had some welcoming words for all those members of Skibbereen that travelled:
Sabina and I are so glad that it gives us the opportunity to celebrate with all of you today the historic achievements of an extraordinary club.
The Southern Star captured Rowing Club Captain Sean O’Brien belting out Dear Old Skibbereen inside the Áras
