E! apologises after airing insensitive 'fun fact' about Michael J. Fox

The network referred to the actor’s Parkinson’s diagnosis as a ‘fun fact’.

EVERY YEAR E! broadcast coverage of the red carpet at the entertainment industry’s biggest award shows, the Golden Globes included.

Last night was no different, and as stars strolled down the busy carpet, ‘fun facts’ about them popped up on the screen.

Unfortunately, the network has been forced to apologise after one of the ‘fun facts’ referred to Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis.

Variety reports that E! has issued an apology, saying:

We regret the insensitive classification of Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis during our Eonline [sic] live stream.  We understand the serious nature of the disease and sincerely apologise.

The error was pointed out almost immediately by viewers on Twitter, who then began creating ‘fun facts’ of their own.
