Migrant Rights Centre Ireland had the greatest comeback to a troll talking about being 'Irish'

Sit down, Frank.

Ibrahim

ON MONDAY, THE news came through that Ibrahim Halawa had been found innocent after four years in an Egyptian prison.

The hearing of Halawa’s case was delayed 28 times before his legal team finally had a chance to defend him in court in early August, and his family are delighted with the result following such a long process.

Migrant Rights Centre Ireland – or MRCIshared the news of his release with an ecstatic message:

Truly brilliant news after four long years of this young man’s life. We hope he’ll be home with his family as soon as possible so he can start to recover from his unimaginable ordeal

One commenter on Facebook questioned how Ibrahim could be considered Irish – and MCRI shut him all the way down

*applause*

Yesterday, the group tweeted out the exchange with a solitary, appropriate rolling eyes emoji, where it instantly started picking up hundreds of retweets.

It was then shared on Reddit Ireland, with the caption:

Throughout the evening, it made its way to the front page of Reddit with nearly 15,000 upvotes and over 1000 comments.

The comeback was so simple and it made it that much more satisfying

Goodbye logic.

Real name or not – and the account appears completely blank, meaning it could well be a fake account – it was almost beyond parody to attempt to call out someone for not being Irish in the circumstances
