MISS NORTH DAKOTA Cara Mund was crowned Miss America at a grand televised ceremony in New Jersey last night.
And the political climate of 2017 was very much the main talking point on stage throughout.
Mund herself made headlines after criticising President Trump for pulling the United States out of the Paris climate accord, saying:
It’s a bad decision. There is evidence that climate change is existing and we need to be at that table.
But it was Miss Texas Margana Wood who stole the show when she was asked about the President’s response to the Charlottesville attack – specifically that there was “very fine people on both sides”.
She only had 20 seconds, but used every one of them to call out that line
The moment has gone viral across Facebook and Twitter overnight.
“It was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack and I think that President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier addressing that fact and making sure all Americans feel safe in this country”
The fact that she straight up called it a “terrorist attack” was praised - something that the President never did
Comparisons were made between her answer and how Trump played it last month
She didn’t go on to win, but her answer was the moment of the night for many
No response from the President yet, but given his long history in the pagaent game there’s surely a good chance this clip will make it to his Twitter timeline
