What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Moone Boy (Sky1, 9pm)

Roscommon’s greatest ever sitcom* returns in triumph for a third series, with its clown-car cast of Irish comedians including Chris O’Dowd and Deirdre O’Kane. Expect some pretty good gags and – perhaps more importantly - numerous on-the-nail 1990s references that will send you shooting back to childhood. #mooneboy

*only?

Whistleblowers: Can We Handle The Truth? (TV3, 10pm)

New TV3 documentary about whistleblowers in Ireland, and the consequences of speaking out about corruption or criminal activity. The programme looks at how those who raise their voices have been treated by the Irish state.

The Notorious (RTÉ Two, 10pm)

Latest instalment in the Conor McGregor show, with tonight’s episode going behind the scenes of his travelling caravan in the run-up to McGregor’s fight against Dennis Siver in Boston. Expect trash talk. #thenotorious

Everyone’s talking about: House of Cards season three

Netflix / YouTube

The third series of Netflix’s showcase political drama House of Cards, released on Friday, has sparked a wave of interest. Not only have a large number of people finished it already – and they want to tell you all about it - but the show sparked a surge in illegal downloads. Almost 700,000 people pirated the series within 24 hours of its release, Variety reports.

Or flick over for…

  • Ireland’s Greatest Robberies (TV3, 9pm) Does this sound like a programme that could only be broadcast on TV3? Well, that’s because it is.
  • Gotham (RTÉ Two, 9pm) Latest in the Batman prequel.
  • University Challenge (BBC2, 8pm) Feel inferior to nerds and Paxman.
  • Arthur and George (UTV, 9pm) High-profile new drama based on the life of Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes. (Not on UTV Ireland)
  • My Baggy Body (Channel 4, 10pm) Documentary about people after liposuction.
