GALLERY: Roscommon goes back to the nineties for 'Moone Boy' filming
CHRIS O’DOWD is back in his home town of Boyle in Roscommon to film the second series of the Sky 1 comedy Moone Boy, and the whole town is involved.
This week a 1990 St. Patrick’s Day parade was filmed, with half of Boyle decked out in nineties gear to look the part.

Moone Boy follows the tale of 11-year-old Martin and his imaginary friend Seán (played by Chris O’Dowd) and is based on the actor’s own childhood. It features cameos from Steve Coogan and Johnny Vegas and is a total nostalgia-fest, with throwbacks to Mary Robinson’s election campaign and Italia ’90.
Chris O’Dowd (who shows his proud Roscommon roots via his Twitter handle @BigBoyler) is combining the filming of Moone Boy with swanning around Hollywood rubbing shoulders with celebs and settling into married life with TV presenter and writer Dawn Porter.
O’Dowd previously appeared in the IT crowd, the HBO series Girls and the 2011 film Bridesmaids. His latest film is the Australian movie The Sapphires, based on the 2005 play of the same name.
As an added bonus, check out Steve Coogan’s remarkable Irish accent in Moone Boy. He plays sex pest ‘Touchy Feely’.
