MORRISSEY IS NO shrinking violet when it comes to saying what he thinks, so perhaps it isn’t a surprise that in his latest missive to his fans he is straight-up about his opinion of the Olympics.

The formers Smiths frontman and musician wrote a letter to his True to You fanclub members this week that accuses London 2012 of being an event hijacked by the royal family, The Guardian reports.

He even stated that “the spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain”, before adding that “the 2013 grotesque inevitability of Lord and Lady Beckham (with Sir Jamie Horrible close at heel) is, believe me, a fate worse than life”.

Morrissey is well-known for pulling no punches when it comes to getting his opinions across.

In March, he waded into the ongoing row over the Falkland Islands, telling Argentinians that the islands belong to them, while he courted controversy in July of last year by comparing the Norway killings to fast food meat.

He has hit out at China’s treatment of animals, which he called “absolutely horrific”, but then went on to question whether the Chinese are a “subspecies”.
