A farmer moving to Dublin for college has gone to great lengths for somewhere to stay

Grim.

IT’S WELL KNOWN that looking to rent a gaff in Dublin can be a bit of a challenging experience right now.

Even stretching to downright grim at times.

Well, one student moving up to Dublin this September has come up with a novel solution. He’s bought a camper van and is just looking for a spot to park it

Damien posted an ad to Gumtree last week outlining the situation:

I’m Damien. I’m a farmer with a history degree heading to Trinity to study something more practical. Sick of the search, the high rents and the commutes, I’ve bought a small camper to see me through the year. Now I need somewhere to park it.

The high rents and searching were just too much for him:

Please, if you have a space you’re not using, or a garage and no car, consider renting me the spot. I’m study mad so I’m not going to bring any hassle, and I’ll be heading back to the farm and my spaniels come the weekend. I won’t be intrusive.

He’d probably be a good person to have around the house, if the last lines of his description are anything to go by:

I can garden, do DIY, fix mechanical things and I love to bake. Not really relevant, but throwing them out there in case they sweeten the deal.

Somebody give this poor lad a space.

If ever something summed up the accommodation crisis, it’s surely this camper van.
