MP's wife denies stealing kitten
THE WIFE OF a British MP is to stand trial for burglary – and stealing a kitten – from the home of her husband’s girlfriend.
Christine Hemming, wife of Birmingham Yardley MP John Hemming, pleaded not guilty at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, the BBC reports. She also apologised to taxpayers for the cost of her upcoming trial.
She is charged with burgling the home of Emily Cox on 29 September last year. Cox and Hemming had a child together in 2005.
John Hemming had posted a picture of the missing 10-month-old tabby cat, called Beauty, on his website and offered a reward for her return.
Hemming’s trial has been set for 21 June.
