DOES YOUR IDEA of romance involve a 12-foot statue looming awkwardly out of a lake in your local park?
If so, then hold on to your bonnet: A British TV station has plonked this ginormous statue of Mr Darcy – as portrayed by Colin Firth in the 1990s smash-hit BBC series Pride and Prejudice – in The Serpentine in London’s Hyde Park.
Apparently the perplexed-looking statue is to celebrate the launch of a new tv station which is either going to show live footage of statues of Colin Firth in memorable roles or else some British dramas. Probably the latter, we’re guessing.
Here he is from lots of different angles.
And just as a point of comparison, here is Colin Firth as Mr Darcy in the BBC series from the 1990s stripping off some of his Victorian layers for a swim. Lawks!
