Britain loves Mrs Brown so much, they've given her a gameshow
THE CRITICS HATE her. But Britain adores Mrs Brown. So much so, in fact, that the cross-dressing mammy is to become a prime-time Saturday night BBC gameshow.
Mrs Brown’s Celebrities will see Brendan O’Carroll donning his wig, cardigan and falsetto for what Broadcast calls a “comedy quiz” where two contestants compete for prizes.
It’s not known whether the contestants will be compelled to dress up as ladies of a certain age. However, they will have the aid of five celebrities “from sport, music, TV and film”.
The show – a pilot for which is being produced next month – is expected to take a prime-time Saturday night slot.
We all know about the 800 years of colonial domination and oppression. But still: does it really warrant this?
The answer’s yes: according to the Irish Film and Television Network, BBC Entertainment editor called O’Carroll’s hit series Mrs Brown’s Boys one of the “crown jewels of BBC comedy”.
Let’s have a little refresher, shall we?
