If you can’t make it to your nearest university to register, there’s still time to do it at home.
Pauline McLynn, best known for playing the iconic role of Mrs. Doyle in Father Ted, has got the simplest instructions on how to register. In a video called ‘Call Your Granny’, McLynn’s granddaughter asks if she’ll be voting in the referendum.
It pans out like a typical phonecall with any Irish grandparent, only with some extremely useful instructions on how to register stuck in there between granny’s anecdotes about what the neighbours are up to.
Well I’ll tell you who won’t be voting. Lar Daly. He’s after dying.
She also has a very important reminder:
The deadline is Tuesday the 8th of May. Oh, if you’re putting it in the post, don’t leave it too late. It’s a Bank Holiday Monday. You’d be better off putting it into the post on Friday. Actually, if I were you, I’d be putting it into the post on the Wednesday or the Thursday, now that everything has to go through Portlaoise. Why they have to send it so far is beyond me!
