Munster players showed up to surprise an ill 6-year-old fan at his birthday party

It was certainly a day to remember.

IT IS GOING to be an extremely memorable Christmas for little Ben Reidy.

The 6-year-old from County Clare suffers from a life threatening illness that has been with him since birth. He loves watching Munster play on television, so the Share a Dream foundation decided to give him a birthday to remember.

Munster stars Alex Wooton, Jaco Taute, Rhys Marshall and Sam Arnold all surprised Ben in Dreamland in Limerick, which was closed down for the occasion.

Ben’s mum Catriona contacted the foundation to organise the birthday treat.

Shay Kinsella of the foundation said:

For children fighting terrible life threatening illnesses, Share a Dream move heaven and earth to make their fondest dreams come true.
We have a wonderful relationship with Munster and when we explained to their manager what we were trying to do, and if it was possible for one of them team to visit Dreamland and present Ben with a beautiful cake specially designed and made by Deirdre’s Cakes, she said she would do what they could, but as it was European Cup week it might not be possible.

However, the five lads joined the 50+ guests where they spent some time with their young fan.

Share a Dream are currently working to make 17 other children who are fighting terrible illnesses.
