Naked bikers ride through Cork
EARLY MORNING commuters in Cork may have gotten the shock of their life this morning, as the World Naked Bike Ride passed through the city streets.
Aiming to take advantage of the early morning sun, riders took to the streets between 5 and 7am, but alas they were greeted with wind and rain rather than sun. The event, part of the Cork Cycling Arts Festival kicked off with body painting at 5am.
Organisers encouraged people to go “as bare as you dare”.
The first Naked Bike Ride was celebrated in Zaragoza, Spain, in 2001.
World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride in which participants ride together on human-powered transport (bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, roller skates) to protest against oil dependency and celebrate the power and individuality of theirbodies. Over 100 events take place across the world.
