POLICE IN BRITAIN ARE deploying a new tactic in their fight against crime: buying uniforms from an old TV show.
London’s police force, the Met, has agreed a deal to buy uniforms from the wardrobe of axed TV show The Bill.

The Bill ran for 27 years before ITV announced in March that it was cancelling the show. Famous faces who have appeared in The Bill over the years include Kiera Knightley, Emma Bunton, Martin Kemp and footballer Emmanuel Petit.
Now, the show’s clothing is being bought up by the Met in a bid to prevent the authentic uniforms being bought and used by criminals impersonating police officers.
News.com.au reports that criminal gangs are willing to pay hundreds of pounds for authentic police uniforms. The Met will reportedly distribute items from The Bill’s wardrobe for use among its frontline staff.
The figure involved hasn’t been disclosed, but the Met is understood to have paid thousands for the wardrobe.
