Presenter Niall Boylan's house burgled during live radio show
TALK SHOW HOST Niall Boylan had his house burgled as he presented his radio show this afternoon.
Boylan received a message on his mobile while on air, then abruptly left the show on Dublin station Classic Hits 4fm.
His producer Mike Hogan stepped into his shoes and explained the situation to listeners – before Boylan called up from his home for a live interview about the burglary.
Hogan asked him to explain what had happened:
The presenter went on to say that he believed a considerable amount of his wife’s jewellery had been taken.

At the time of the break-in, Boylan was discussing the influence of background on criminality – a coincidence that Hogan pointed out on air.
Boylan, who is known for his outspoken views and controversial opinions, has expressed fear that the break-in could have been sparked by his radio show.
He told the Irish Examiner: ”I always feared something like this would happen because I get threats all the time from some listeners who don’t like what I say.”
The presenter has tweeted a photo of the window the thieves apparently broke to break into his house.
He has said that he will return to the airwaves this evening for his regular show, and added:
