NAILL HORAN IS riding the crest of a wave right now, with the release of his album Flicker today and an upcoming world tour as well.
To coincide with all that, he appeared on The Ellen Show this afternoon to generate a bit of buzz – as if it was needed.
Ellen obviously quizzed him about his dating life, and it boiled down to who he’d rather go out with: Ellie Goulding or Rihanna
Grand.
But the best moment was when Ellen tried to scare Niall with a (not particularly great) prank halfway through the interview and at one point he just slipped into full Late Late Toy Show mode
Finding “Harry’s” knee pads, Niall turned into Tubs there and then: “and there’s one for everyone in the audience!”
It got a bit of a laugh, but it’s clear that this particular catchphrase is only a reference point for Irish people who have grown up with various Late Late presenters giving out freebies to a delirious audience.
If he wanted an appropriate line that would have landed Stateside, he could have gone full Oprah on them
“And you get some knee pads, and you get some knee pads!”
But no, they got ”and there’s one for everyone in the audience” – even though they just think it’s a normal sentence and not Niall going into autopilot with standard Irish catchphrases.
At the end of the show, they had tickets for Niall’s world tour to give to everyone in the crowd, but unfortunately he didn’t pull out the line again
Once was enough.
