AFTER YOU’VE ASKED whether they’ve been busy and if they’ve long left in the shift, talk with your taxi driver generally turns to idle chit-chat if you’re sober, and deep meaningful conversations if you’re not.
And if it’s the former, it’s likely you’ll soon happen upon an easy subject; your respective jobs.
Obviously, at this point, you’ve a fairly firm idea what they do for a living, and that means it’s your turn in the spotlight.
Last night, Nicola Coughlan of Derry Girls had her time to shine when she told her Uber driver she was an actress in the Channel 4 show, and was promptly given a screening of the show’s trailer by her driver.
Taking to Twitter last night, Nicola wrote:
OK, so whenever I tell an Uber driver I’m an actor they are always the most excited and supportive people you have ever met, but I have to say, Gulam you have truly surpassed them all by playing the Derry Girls trailer on YouTube while we were driving. FIVE STARS.
And the best part? He actually had to ask Nicola which one she was.
The one with the blonde hair and the fringe, Gulam!
