Nicola Coughlan of Derry Girls can't make it to the IFTAs tonight so the girls made a cardboard cut out of her instead
Channel 4 Channel 4
THE IRISH FILM and Television Awards (IFTAs) are on tonight and the Derry Girls cast are very excited. They’re up for 4 awards including Best Comedy and Best Writer for creator Lisa McGee.
Unfortunately Nicola Couhglan who plays Claire can’t make it. She’s currently rehearsing for her new project ‘The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie’ which will be debuting on June 4th. She was pretty devastated to be missing the awards.
She demanded a cardboard cut out be brought in her honour and was delighted to find out that Lisa McGee and Jamie-Lee Donnell kindly obliged.
They got every detail right down to the Tayto and the school uniform but they did forget the punt purse which as well know is nearly unforgivable. It looks incredible and naturally Nicola was absolutely delighted with it.
We really hope Derry Girls wins tonight if only to see little Cardboard Claire go up to accept the award. The girls will be going up against 'The Young Offenders' who have 7 nominations overall. It's set to be a good night for Irish television anyway!
