This Dublin restaurant had an amazing response to a bad review in their first week

If you can’t beat them, add them to your menu.

A NEW ITALIAN restaurant has recently opened in the space on George’s Street that was previously home to restaurant and bar SODER+KO and the well known gay nightclub The Dragon.

NoLIta describe themselves as a ‘new york style bar and eatery, all about the pursuit of good times’. With an emphasis on decadence, they have an extensive selection of cocktails, as their fully stocked bar above would suggest.

They even managed to make what was once the woeful smoking area of The Dragon into an appealing beer garden:

So after all of the effort went into setting this place up, NoLIta were pretty disappointed to receive a bad review just 4 days after they had opened.

The review slated them for serving Pepsi instead of Coke and charging €12 for cocktails, despite that being pretty much the standard price in the locality – e.g. their lovely neighbours The Market Bar, Chelsea Drugstore, San Lorenzos, etc.

They were even mocked for serving their drinks in crystal glasses, which honestly should be greeted with relief at a time when we have restaurants serving food in bin lids and shovels in order to get attention.

So NoLIta have obviously taken a little bit of time to take the review into consideration, because this afternoon they posted on Facebook about how deeply the review affected them:

We have become a family and a team in a very short space of time. Every staff member has put in so much time and effort to get this beautiful place up and running. Of course we had some hiccups at the start but that’s all part of the journey.

We would like to thank Niall for his review and as a small gesture of appreciation we have designed a cocktail especially in his honour. We are proud to introduce ‘The Harbo’.

That’s right. They named a cocktail after their unhappy customer. It’s made with vodka, Pepsi (no coke for the reviewer, unfortunately), sugar and “lime (for that real bitter taste)”. It’s also priced at €11, hopefully that’s more suitable for the reviewers budget.
