LET’S FACE IT, until the knot is well and truly tied tomorrow in Windsor, there will be no escaping the royal wedding.
And this particular union has managed to pique even more interest than your average Royal Wedding for a whole host of reasons; there’s the Hollywood element, the problematic in-law issue, and the simple fact that Prince Harry is (probably) most people’s favourite Royal Family member.
And yet, while many of us may be interested – or indeed, fascinated – by the pomp and ceremony of the whole thing, that’s not to say we wish we were in Meghan Markle’s shoes right now.
In addition to this, there are many, many women who can think of little worse than marrying into the Royal Family, which is why so many have taken umbrage with a particular narrative doing the rounds right about now.
And that’s the ‘it’s every little girl’s dream to be a princess’ narrative.
Railing against this particular trope is bestselling writer, Jane Fallon, who has taken to Twitter to encourage her followers to share their ‘non-princessy little girl dreams’.
If I read one more wedding article that contains the words 'It's every little girl's dream to be a princess'...😡 No. It wasn't. It was my dream to be a writer. Or a gymnast. Or a professional tree climber. Or a cat. Never a princess. #TweetYourNonPrincessyLittleGirlDreams

Wanted to be a pirate so much that I sneaked my costume into school and got changed in the toilets. Strutted around the playground with my sword at my side and my piratical chin held high. Later found out am hideously seasick. Dreams ruined #TweetYourNonPrincessyLittleGirlDreams https://t.co/hHfJxdlbX5
