No, North Korea didn't tell its citizens they're in the World Cup final
WE KNOW IT’S hard to figure out what’s going on in there at all, but this North Korean ‘news’ is definitely bogus.
This video, uploaded two days ago, has been doing the rounds on more than a few news websites as an ‘official state broadcast’ from North Korea.
In it North Korean citizens are told that their team beat Japan, the US and China in the World Cup, and they’re heading to the finals against Portugal.
However the video is definitely, definitely a fake.
A poster in this thread noticed that the audio doesn’t match up to the pictures, and the dialect is incorrect. The poster also states that football is incredibly popular in North Korea, and the citizens are well-informed about the comings and goings of their national football team.

But here’s the real rub – North Koreans have actually been able to watch every single World Cup match (albeit with a rumoured 24-hour time delay) due to a deal struck in 2010.
So World Cup fever is alive and well in North Korea. Nobody spoil them on the result of tonight’s final, now.
