Here's what Irish people would buy with a one pound note

A portrait of a nation.

EARLIER TODAY, WE tweeted this image…

@PaddythePaki @PaddythePaki

… and asked what people would buy with such a glorious object.

The answers we got were VERY specific.

Remember the ‘supercan’?

Making the order up in penny sweets was popular.

Some had modest aims.

Some just wanted to binge.

And some were enterprising.

(Wait, do Fizzle Sticks not still exist? Can anyone help? This is a man in need.)

Some, meanwhile, just wanted to relive their childhood dreams.

And some dreams were simpler than others.

There you have it. A nation’s dreams in a nutshell.

Any more for any more? What would you buy?

What sweets would you buy if you had a pound to spend?>

More: Outraged at the price of sweets these days? You’re not alone>

Memories: How many of these old Cadbury wrappers do you remember?
