Open thread: What are you getting up to for the long weekend?
AFTER THE fatigue of yet another trip to the ballot boxes – that’s three times in 15 months now – the country will no doubt embrace the opportunity to let the hair down and enjoy a three-day weekend.
There’s plenty going on nationwide – with Dublin alone hosting the Bavaria City Racing event in the city centre, the Women’s Mini-Marathon on Monday, the Forbidden Fruit festival in Kilmainham, and Bord Bia’s Bloom festival in the Phoenix Park.
Elsewhere there’s the Strawberry Festival in Enniscorthy, the Tattersalls horse trials continuing in Ratoath, the Cat Laughs festival in Kilkenny, Féile an Spideal in Galway, the Bandon Music Festival in Cork, the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon, and the Clancy Brothers festival in Carrick-on-Siur.
So – with all of that going on, are you planning on getting out and about, or would you rather kick back for the next three days and embrace the downtime?
