How Twitter reacted to the end of Oxegen (for now, anyway)

Will it affect Electric Picnic?

IT WAS ANNOUNCED today that the Oxegen music festival will not be going ahead this year.

In a short statement, promoters MCD confirmed the news and hinted that the three-day event – which at its peak had a capacity of 80,000 – may never return.

The company said it was “no longer viable to stage the Festival in its current form”.

Here’s how Twitter reacted.

Some people were devastated:

But perhaps the biggest contingent were worried about a possible impact on other festivals:

Some have even called for drastic measures:

Although others have accused them of snobbery.

So long, Oxegen.
