YOU MIGHT START seeing a lot of guys on social media rocking a single, painted blue nail over the next couple of weeks or so.
And it’s all for a very good cause.
The #PolishedMan project aims to raise awareness about physical violence against children around the world
It runs from October 1st until October 15th, and asks men to paint one nail to “raise funds and awareness”
From the US to Australia, above, the campaign has really taken off
It’s already raised over €200,000 for the cause
The project was started by American non-profit organisation YGAP. And the story behind it is lovely:
YGAP’s CEO Elliot Costello came up with the idea for Polished Man after a visit to our project partner Hagar International in Cambodia. One evening, he met a young girl named Thea. Due to their language barrier, the two played naughts and crosses and other games for hours. At the end of the night, Thea drew a heart on Elliot’s palm, and then painted all of his nails blue.
