PAISLEY WAS ALWAYS a pattern I associated with old Polaroid photos and weathered family albums; a design, in other words, which was synonymous with the 1970s.

Sure, it continued to find its way onto men’s ties regardless of the decade, but that, naturally, did little to convince me it was a pattern I wanted to incorporate into my wardrobe rotation.
