LAST WEEK, WE noted how The Happy Camper caravan was back open for the summer in the hills of Donegal.
It might just be the most scenic little cafe in Ireland:
Sitting on the road near Lough Beagh in Donegal, it sells pancakes and coffee to tourists and locals passing by the picturesque location.
But there was a disaster over the weekend.
Just as the owner Maria was pulling away on Saturday night, the caravan (with nobody inside) unhooked from the car and crashed into a nearby bog
As The Happy Camper wrote on Facebook yesterday:
We got my wee caravan out of the bog this morning but unfortunately will be going to Letterkenny Skip with it
Despite the unfortunate accident, the locals have already rallied to get The Happy Camper back on the road as soon as possible.
By Sunday morning, a fundraising page had been set up by Maria’s friend Anne Marie – and it’s already raised over €1700
And that’s of a €3000 target set.
Maria again took to Facebook to thank everyone who’s got on board so far:
I am sitting here in absolute shock at everyone’s generosity. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Over €1500 raised already
If this momentum keeps up, the little caravan with the best views of Donegal will be back up and running soon
In just 48 hours, the immense support has shown how much The Happy Camper means to everyone who’s been lucky enough to sample its goods
Keep up the good work, everyone.
