PATRICK STEWART IS probably the last person you would expect to see drinking from a shoe. As disgusting as it may sound, a “shoey” is what the Australians call the ritual of drinking from a shoe whether it be for good luck, part of a drinking game or simply an act of hazing.

The most notable Australian known to knock back a drink from a shoe every now and then is racing driver Daniel Ricciardo.
Ricciardo also happens to be the same bad influence who had X Men and Star Trek star Patrick Stewart cracking open a cold shoe with the boys over the weekend.
After knocking back a shoe of champagne on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, Ricciardo threw it into the crowd and turned to Patrick Stewart to politely ask “Would you like some?”
Surprisingly, Stewart responded that he’d love some.
So Ricciardo took the shoe off and filled it with some champagne for Patrick Stewart. As you do.
