Ryan Reynolds wants Patrick Stewart to be People's next Sexiest Man Alive

Reynolds and Stewart have been discussing the title with Hugh Jackman on Twitter today. As they would.

EARLIER THIS WEEK, Blake Shelton was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2017.

Now, before you “Who?!” the hell out of him (and we wouldn’t really blame you for doing so), let us tell you a bit about him.

Blake here is a hugely successful country singer, a judge on the US version of The Voice, and the boyfriend of one Gwen Stefani - whom he started dating shortly after splitting from his country singer ex-wife Miranda Lambert, causing no end of gossip.

He also turns up to Oscar parties in jeans.

All this may be why his Sexiest Man Alive crowning has been met with just a little bafflement across the pond:

A little harsh everybody, no? He’s not exactly The Rock, who was last year’s Sexiest Man Alive, but… who is, in fairness.

Yet another Sexiest Man Alive winner, Hugh Jackman, gamely stepped in to congratulate Shelton on Twitter:

But Ryan Reynolds (another past Sexiest Man), ever the snarker, chimed in to say that he thinks Patrick Stewart should be given the title.

Patrick responded by tweeting out a vintage TV Guide cover from his Star Trek: Next Generation days:

He’s messing, but really – People, are you seeing this? Something to think about for next year.
