The Australian Prime Minister's St. Patrick's Day message is one of the cringiest yet
AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER Tony Abbot is coming under fire on social media for a ‘patronising’ St. Patrick’s Day address to the nation. In the address, posted to the Liberal Party YouTube channel, Abbot sends a gem-filled message to us Irish.
Many on Twitter have called his comments ‘patronising’ and just plain ‘embarrassing’. Comments such as…
1. “As you can see, I’m wearing my green tie”
We see. Thank you for this gift.
2. “It’s safe to say, this is the one day of the year that it’s good to be green”
It’s always good to be green!
3. “It’s a great day for the Irish… and everyone else, who cares to come for a party”
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
4. “This is the love of life and the good humour that the Irish have given Australia”
5. “The English made the laws, the Scots made the money, and the Irish made the songs”
6. “Today we celebrate our Irish heritage. I’m sorry I can’t be there to share a Guinness or two, or maybe even three”
