WHEN YOU’RE MAKING your own burgers at home, the extent of the toppings applied usually amounts to a bit of sauce, lettuce and some cheese found in the fridge.
But award-winning chef Charles Michel is here to set us straight – and has provided us the perfect formula to have the best burger ever.
1. Do not eat with a knife and fork
According to Charles, eating a burger is an experience where you need all your senses. Having the burger in your hand is an important part of this. Which leads on to the next point.
2. Don’t use a plate
Placing it in food wrapping and munching it down with your hands is the best way to go. Having it on a plate and not in your hands doesn’t stimulate the senses in the same way, according to the chef.
3. Make sure it can fit in your mouth in one bite
You don’t need it looking like a skyscraper to be a good burger. 7cm is apparently the optimum height.
4. Listen out for the crunch when you’re eating it
The “sounds the burger produces in mouth can make it more enjoyable” apparently.
5. Nail the ingredients
Now, you might not be able to rustle up all of these for your Thursday night dinner, but in an ideal world – according to Charles – this is the perfect burger:

Sure if you just do a week’s shop for the one burger meal, you’ll be grand.
Enjoy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
